He stopped for a moment and just looked at me as he pondered it and said, I say yes to everything. His words sunk in, and I realized that I had a similar philosophy that had helped me also reach similar success in the car business. Now, when I launched into my entrepreneurial journey, I took that mindset with me into the wide open world, but this time it led to burnout, not success.

Thus you get promoted. Your success is bolstered by your boss's opinion of you, not your client's opinion of you. But in the world of entrepreneurship and business owner ownership, the customer is your boss. When you become, or I should say, when you try to become the expert at everything, your message gets diluted, and more than that, your customers get confused.

This, my friends, is going to lead to burnout. How about this? Saying yes to customers that don't value you, they pay less and they complain more. Usually this is friends or family or people who say they can't afford you, but you feel bad, so you wanna help them out. Yes, these are the ones that lead to burnout.

You end up doing so much more than you think it will take, and ultimately you're not getting paid from the people who are willing to value you. When you get into this rut, you can easily and quickly end up staying there much longer than you anticipate. Number three, expanding your business without building processes.

You're not building a clear process and committing to that process. All of this leads to shotgun marketing, and when you think of a shotgun and you're aiming at the bullseye, what ends up happening?

Oftentimes when business owners are talking to me, that's the first thing they say, oh, I want my business to look like this. No, I invite you to think bigger. What do you want your life to look like? How much time do you wanna be spending with your kids and your your spouse? When do you wanna be on vacation?

How much time do you wanna be spending on your business? When you have clarity like that, your goals to build a business, your goal then is to build a business that supports that lifestyle, not just a paycheck. Ask yourself, are you building a business to chase profit or a lifestyle? Isn't it interesting?
