From Depression to Daily Wins: How to Rewire Your Brain for Better Days with Susanne Biro

What if having a great day isn't about everything going perfectly?

What if it's not about your calendar being light or life handing you zero problems?

What if a great day is something you can CREATE - no matter what chaos comes your way?

That's exactly what my guest Susanne Biro is here to teach you today.

Her definition of freedom stopped me in my tracks:

"True freedom is an inner state. It's freedom from the self-doubt, anxiety, and deep-seated fears that limit our potential. It's escaping the endless chase for external validation so you can lead with authenticity and enjoy the success you've already created."

Here's the truth Susanne has learned after 24 years as an executive coach:

Life is hard. The bigger your success, the MORE problems come.

So don't wait for the problems to end. They won't.

Instead, focus on what you CAN control.

The Daily Disciplines Framework

Susanne shares her 5-7 daily disciplines that put her in the best possible state:

  • Sleep 7-8 hours
  • 5-minute morning practice (set an intention + write down exciting thoughts)
  • 1 hour of exercise
  • Eat whole foods (one ingredient - know what's in it)
  • Bake in something fun every day

The kicker? When she has really bad days, it's because she's done NONE of these things.

And that's okay. The purpose of knowing your daily disciplines is that you know how to get back on track.

The Morning Practice That Changes Everything

5 minutes. That's it.

  1. Write down an intention for who you want to BE today
  2. Write all the exciting thoughts you could choose to think about the day

Do this for ONE MONTH and see what changes.

It can feel phony at first. Do it anyway.

Susanne's Story of Rebuilding

Years ago, a business partner stole her work. She went from six figures to ZERO overnight. Two kids. Had to rebuild everything.

So she found ONE WIN every day.

Sometimes it was: "When I picked my kids up from school, they're alive."

She gave 90% of her internal attention to that ONE win.

My Story

I shared something vulnerable in this episode. When we moved to Idaho and I became a stay-at-home mom (my dream), I fell into the deepest depression of my life.

My practice: "Just for today, I will find ONE thing to be okay with."

It took every ounce of energy. It felt fake and dumb.

But I kept doing it. Every day got MICRO brighter.

I pulled myself out. One thing at a time.

The Truth About Negative Thinking

It's an addiction.

The more you think a thought, the more you'll think it. Your brain literally grows neurons down that highway.

Einstein said: "If we knew the power of one negative thought, we would never think it."

The Thought Replacement Exercise

When you feel bad:

  1. Write down what you've been thinking
  2. Ask: How do these thoughts make me feel?
  3. Write alternative thoughts you could choose
  4. Ask: How would someone I admire think about this?

You're giving your brain CHOICES.

The Fear Conversation

We dive deep into how fear drives our lives:

  • Why we don't speak up in meetings
  • Why we're afraid to ask questions
  • How negative thinking becomes a habit
  • Why the Instagram "six figures in 90 days" is all lies

Susanne's advice? Try to do NOTHING from fear.

Chase the fear down. It usually ends at something absurd like "I'll be homeless and unloved."

Then ask: What if it goes RIGHT?

One Final Truth:

You can't serve others by worrying about your own failures.

If ONE person gets ONE thing from this conversation, it's a success.

So ask yourself: What are MY daily disciplines? What makes a great day for ME?

Then do those things. As often as you can.

And when you have a bad day? You'll know exactly how to get back on track.
